A look into Squee's room, and one some of his doddles. Kind of a sappy idea, but you KNOW it's cute. Don't lie. I had so much fun doing this one. I got to scribble my way threw 45% of it and it's suppose to look that way! Ehehehe But really, it took some thought, you get it or you don't. :/

Beneath the seemingly sappy childish quality, you see a true emotional background. Squee isn't drawing a picture of his father or mother; he's drawing a picture of an insane unstable man, and yet this man is one of the few people that reach out to him with a hand that does more than strike him violently.
Squee's affection is very simple - He's Ok, he writes, in a crayon that's been drawn down to an obvious stump. His face is smiling, he seems unaffected for a few minutes by all the misfortune and trauma that his life is full of. In just a few blissful minutes, he's the Squee in the picture. A small boy standing beside an influential figure in his life, his teddy bear and safety cushion close by. Interestingly, Shmee isn't standing by him - Nny is standing closer. Squee feels no need to have Shmee be a protection barrier when he is with Nny. Unlike with most situations, Squee is comfortable here.
Lovely perspective, very insightful, and certainly thought-provoking. I couldn't accentuate enough how much I like this one; it presents not only a well drawn picture but a message behind it.
and i thought it was crayons. but heh, you colored pencils tricked me.
gah, littlemaggie has kinda said it all about the "childish quality" which is a really good theme in this drawing of yours. ah, from the eyes of child.
Aside from your concept, beautifully commented on by Maggie, I am really impressed how you seamlessly incorproate 2 diffrent view points into the image. I've seen College grade art with similar view point combonation. Picaso did that alot as well.
Anyway, the theme is beautiful. I'm sure Mr. Vasquez would be proud.
Heck, I'm proud of you, and feel privledged to see this, thank you very much.

In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
